Inspiration: pink and blue

A friend inspired me with this post: pink and blue.  Would you, could you, in a house? Would you, could you, in a room? It isn't just for newborn.  I have been really loving the pink and blue color combo lately, and am excited for my friend that she gets to use it :)  Pink and blue can go in many combinations: navy and bright pink, pink and teal, pale pink and periwinkle, or pale pink and mint.

Sometimes it's hard for people to visualize or come around to something new or different, so here are some images to get you inspired too!

the olive greens helps neutralize the palette

More bold and preppy

Very subtle.  The rest of this design by Samantha Pynes is gorge.

Loving the pale pink and mint

pink and periwinkle.  Also beautiful

Pretty Funny Vintage

I have been dying to check out some antique stores in the area.  I had read about Pretty Funny Vintage somewhere so stopped there first.  They had some great items....not a huge selection like I was hoping for...but more organized and thought through.  Prices were a bit high, but the location was more easily accessible than most antique stores I'm drawn to (and the town it's in is worth visiting too...Tarrytown)

Old drawers....great for organizing craft supplies

Mismatched Alphabet Blocks to spell something on a bookcase or children's room

Similar bed to the one I found for my son.....at 10 times the price

Old books are a love of mine. These had great covers too.  I also liked how they were displayed.

I hope the store and its contents inspired you and got some ideas going for your own home. Cheers!

Bone Inlay

I was flipping through the latest House Beautiful and was really taken by this blue inlay table in designer Ashley Whittaker's home.

The bright blue contrasted with the delicate white design is so striking.

Typically set in more traditional spaces, bone inlay tables can stand alone in an entry as a statement piece, or add to a playful mix of patterns in a bohemian space, or can stand out in a more muted space.   Either way, these beauties are making a comeback.

Haviland Table

I am in love with the Haviland Table as of late  I love its simplicity, crisp white and gold palette, and its feminine yet modern design.  Here's to rooms with these magnificent beauties.  (...now only if I could afford one, or two...)

A little Southern Inspiration

We finally made it.  After a summer of bouncing around from coast to coast we have finally settled in our much anticipated HOUSE!!!! This is our first time being in a home, and while we are only renting, I couldn't be more thrilled!!! We are pretty much out of the boxes, now it's on to the fun part.

For a little inspiration I wanted to post the 2012 Southern Living Idea House photos...or some of them.
I love the neutral palette, mix of materials and sophisticated rustic vibe.  Some pieces I recognize from main retailers (like restoration or pottery barn) while others are definitely one-of-a-kinds. I also love how the house really flows together without feeling too staged (like most idea houses or model homes).

Front Entry

Front Porch.  Mint and Peach = tranquile perfection! Love the swing and retro side chairs

Dining Room.  Not sure I would use this, but like how it shows a mixture of seating styles.

Industrial meets country kitchen
Family Room

Master bedroom.  Am really liking the grey and red combo :)

Master Bath.....DYING for that bathmat!!
